Warpaint - “Biggy”
I want to hug this friend whenever I see this friend online. :D life is amazing especially if we give importance to intellectual and creative connections.
today, i received a shirt, art matches, art prints, and postcards from cebu.
UBEC ART RELIEF SWAP is a project initiated by several cebu artists to help the survivors affected by Typhoon Yolanda. Interested people are encourage to donate relief goods; and in exchange, donors will receive artworks from participating artists. Relief goods will be sent to chosen areas in mainland cebu and its surrounding islands; but now, since affected villages are already in rebuilding phase, construction materials to help rebuild the homes are preferred option for donation.
For me, since I live miles away from cebu and still have to travel via sea to get there, I donated small amount to help with their logistic concerns or they can use the money to buy construction materials themselves. People outside cebu can donate this way, it will lessen your expenses in shipping the relief goods yourself.
Well, here’s a little throwback, some of the participating artists are from a group called The Junks; I met with them 2 years ago while I was traveling from iligan-cebu-negros to ilo-ilo to attend a friend’s wedding and they have become good online friends from then on (these guys don’t want to have their picture taken. trust me.)
Additional note, one of them fellows, Flai, invited me to become a contributor to their blog StreetKonect. He suggested for me to write about but not limited to art events happening in northern mindanao. I’ve been detached from the art scene lately because of work; I guess his invitation is a signal for me to participate to one of the upcoming art events. It would be so much easier for me to write about the northerm mindanao mountains, but that’s off-topic. :P
